Discovery Servers
SourceMaster Uses both NDI Discovery Servers and mDNS to locate NDI sources on the network.
It monitors the health of all discovery servers, and will flag faults when certain conditions are detected.

Using the settings tab, you can configure checking and limits for Discovery Servers.
Faults detected for NDI Discovery includes:
-
NDI Discovery Server is not responding
-
Source count outside expected range
This help to detect if NDI source have failed, or new unauthorised sources have appeared on the network
-
Discovery Server source counts don't match
If you have multiple Discovery Servers, this will detect if an NDI source is only appearing on some of them, typically indicating a configuration problem on the NDI source.
SourceMaster also monitors mDNS discovery, and will determines how many sources are being discovered by mDNS rather than by Discovery servers.
By setting limit on the number of expected mDNS sources, you can detect if a source is incorrectly configured, or for unauthorised sources appearing on the network.
